Heads up to the WordPress users out there!

You know those notices about upgrading to the current version of WordPress that occasionally appear on your Admin page? Take them seriously. I just lost 25+ hours of work to someone using an exploit in an old copy of WP I had neglected to delete after I had no further use for it. While my unusually stupid intruder got what was coming to him, he still managed to make a mess of my development server, which corrupted the databases that store WP data — AND the backups, as well.
